It was 8:34 in the morning and I was putting on my sweats to go on a morning walk, something I’ve done for 6 years after going to a Tony Robbins seminar. A way to set up my day to be a total success, a way to be in the zone. We call it our Hour of Power. It would have been an ordinary day, except I was running a little late and had to prepare for a coaching call to help one of my clients break-through in a challenge she was facing. Little did I know I was getting ready to face the challenge of my lifetime. I was “undercover” in Lehi Utah. I didn’t post my location in Facebook, I didn’t tweet about it like I usually do. This time I wasn’t there on business for our Internet Travel or our training/coaching company. I was there on a healing mission.
As I got chased by a dog when I passed by one of the beautiful houses up the mountain in Lehi Utah, Dave and I lovingly called him Kujo, the round-about dog. Every time we passed by that house the dog would chase us and run in circles as if he was on a battle. Little did I know I was about to face a new battle in my life– but rather than calling it a battle, time to introduce myself…I will not use words that are disempowering. My entire blog will be about healing holistically, healing in an empowering way and achieve an unbelievable level in health and fitness…to speed up the results we want in our mindset, body and soul.
So I will rename the battle an “opportunity to grow.” Dave, my amazing husband and lover always and I have always committed to ourselves that the word problem would not exist in our vocabulary. We call them “learning lessons”, “gifts” or “opportunities to grow.” Is that something you can apply right now?
My grateful walk has now turned into a coaching call with a great client of mine. Helping her break-through in her health challenges…helping her break-through in her weight-loss challenges. As soon as I was done with the 45 minute coaching session all while I took my beautiful walk up the mountains, I was ready to break-through in my own “opportunity to grow.”
Two weeks earlier I could barely walk that same mountain. I had traveled to Utah because my dentist had found a growth in my mouth by my jaw/gum and she was concerned. Because I travel so much I didn’t pay much attention to it, but when I came back, a couple months later, I finally saw the specialist, an oral faxima -something surgeon who sent me for a cat-scan type of x-ray. That took me another six weeks to get through because of my travel schedule.
I always thought I was sort of invincible in a way, in terms of my health. After goint to many seminars including the ultimate Break-Through Peak Performance coach Tony Robbins, I learned the right way to eat, take care of my health, and I even hadn’t had a cold in 3 years. Almost cocky to a point…thinking that as long as I do the right thing…my health would always be okay. Even with our health insurance, we requested they change the deductible to $10,000 a year because we never used it.
The specialist in Dallas called me and said we needed to talk. When I arrived he said I needed to schedule a surgery/biopsy because he was very concerned with the growth. My gut did not like this doctor because he did not want to explain a whole lot to me. Didn’t want to give me details. Didn’t want to share his thoughts. I said I’d go for a second opinion and called my Doctor who has a practice in Kansas, who I trust with my life, Dr. John Carlston. It was 10pm on a Tue night and after exchanging a few “tag you’re it” phone calls, I explained the situation to him. Dr. Carlston shared with me that gum/jaw/teeth infections/growths/tumors should be treated with a lot of care and urgency because the infection can travel to the brain and could cause major issues if not death. So……I called a Dr in Utah he trusted with his life, and after he saw my Cat-Scan he said we needed a biopsy immediately. I cashed in on some American Airlines miles and my hubby and I flew to Utah. Dr. Carlston and his amazing wife Angi are two of the most loving people I’ve ever known. They hosted us at their home and Dave and I went to see Dr. Haymund in Utah. When I went in the day before the biopsy, he looked at the second set of x-rays and said it ws probably a bit more serious than originally discussed.
Then he said there was a strong chance of it being an ameloblastoma, which is a non-cancer but very aggressive tumor that grows out of the cells that never developed into a wisdom tooth. “ A what?” we were in a bit of shock. We knew that if you create a clean alkaline environment in your body, cancer can not grow. We hardly eat sugars or flours, which can lead to diabetes. But this had nothing to do with nutrition. This was an “organ tumor” but it was supposedly to be treated similar to cancer, by surgery, but no radiation or chemo. We had no idea it was this serious. He proceeded to bring x-rays from someone who recently had the surgery. Not pretty. Not funny. The doctor begins to show us the young lady’s x-rays and tells us they had to remove a quarter of this young lady’s jaw including the jaw bone, put a metal there, do a second surgery to remove part of the hip bone to do reconstructive surgery…a six-twelve month process. No he didn’t just do that… by this time Dave was turning blue and purple and different colors…and I kept on telling Dave it would be okay.

To share with people our mission to help you become healthier in every way to AVOID these diseases that can take the life out of you. We have been blessed to have some of the top mind-set and health coaches in the world. We have friends who have beat cancer, heart disease and diabetes the holistic way. We have doctors and resources to help you clear your mindset and your emotions while you heal. We have the formula to eat healthy to extend your life.

I have really been trying to transition into this positive mindset/holistic living/empowered living….but it has been a challenge (mindset and the limiting beliefs are hard thing to conquer sometimes)

You have always been a great source of inspiration to me. I felt a bit of sadness when I was reading this blog that was quickly transformed into awe by your approach to everything, including news of your health. My mom has been sick for about 6 months and is currently at a place called Hippocrates Health Institute. The original is in West Palm Beach florida and they are currently doing a satellite one in Calistoga. It all follows the school of thought that you have learned/from tony robbins, etc. My friend had throat cancer and is now in remission ( no chemo/radiation), my friend was diagnosed with MS and wasn’t walking after going she is doing a great and walking, she went there a year ago and has implemented this to her way of life crucial for recovery. My mom will be checking out tomorrow. If you want more info please don’t hesitate to call. I know you have a lot of people in your corner and I just wanted to reach out and let you know I am one of them. I also know you are going to come out shining and help many along your way even though it is your battle…..Love to you and Dave

I stumbled across your blog last night, just before bed and prayed for your healing and your marriage. I will put this prayer request in my God-box when we get home on Tuesday.
Tonight after Nashville Regional, Donald and I went to dinner with Mark Chapel’s group, at a wonderful,” family-style” restaurant, Monell’s. My high school friend, Karen and I engaged three young adults in conversation that shared our table. The two girls were medical students, studying to be Doctors of Osteopathy (D.O.). They talked about their 200 hours study of skeletal and soft-tissue manipulation and holistic approach to healing, in addition to their regular medical education.
According to Donald, a nuclear cardiologist, although D.O.s are found in every medical specialty, most go into primary care. One of the girls, named Coral, was soon going to Hawaii to enter pediatrics. I gave her your blog site and told her the story you shared today. She was enthusiastic about your mindset and mission of your blog to provide a positive message of your experience through this journey.
Karen commented that she did not think that it was an accident that we sat next to them tonight, as you had just revealed your story today. Coral agreed. I hope you will hear from her. She promised to contact you through your blog if she had any insight or learned of any new treatments for your condition.

I am positive God has greater plans for you and Dave.

I am so impressed with your attitude. Especially so early on. I have two daughters that “Medical Doctors” have diagnosed with a blood disease called “Sickle Beta O Thalassemia” I know a mouthful, right. Well we have been battling it for 17 years now. We too have chosen to take a more Holistic/Preventative approach with positive results. We have not won the war, but have won many, many battles. Dumb founded some Drs and some what taught our daughters of the benefits of Health and Nutrition, however my challenge is that the girls(one is 20 and the other is 17) have not come to that place where they are completely willing as you are to give up totally the harmful foods. I am hoping I can get them to begin to read your blogs and see difference a healthy diet and positive attitude can do for them as well. I will agree with you both in prayer for God’s Healing just as I do for my girls.
